Formed in 2004, Cygnet Yarns has grown into a company dedicated to bringing crafters yarns of the highest quality at competitive prices. This Bradford, West Yorkshire based company offers a fantastic range of yarns from 100% pure new wool to premium acrylics, from 4Plys to our signature Super chunkys. Our yarns are fresh and innovative offering customers a varied range of bright, neutral and pastel colour palettes in our solids and fun colour popping brights in our printed yarns. We offer yarns to suit all tastes, budgets and skill levels.

Unlike many of our rivals, we are only a very small, close knit team. Everybody gets involved in all aspects of the business, from yarn development, to packing boxes in the warehouse to making cups of teas for the team!
In 2022 we joined the UK Hand Knitting Association - UK Hand Knitting is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to promoting hand knitting and associated yarn crafts and supporting independent retailers.
The UKHKA have developed a nationwide network of volunteers who pass on their skills to encourage newcomers to learn to knit or crochet at craft shows and other events across the UK.
Meet the Team
Katie Stephenson
Director
Co-founder and Director of Cygnet, Katie was born into the hand knitting trade, following in the footsteps of her father, Paul Long - a veteran of the acrylic yarn trade.
Katie has two cheeky boys Alfie & Ted who keep her busy at home and also prove useful as budding Cygnet knitwear models.. Katie enjoys skiing trips, running and socialising*. (*read drinking).

OPERATIONS Manager
Aaron joined Cygnet in summer 2018. He's a spreadsheet wizard and has a very deep voice.
He's a whisky connoisseur! With a vast collection of whiskies. Aaron also loves his dog Kratos.
Sandy Hall
Design and sales support
Sandy has many years of design and knitwear knowledge and loves all things woolly. Recently welcoming her little Grandson, she loves to knit for him and learn new creative skills on the side.
Ryan Bowers
Sales admin and customer support
Ryan joined our team during August 2019, Ryan is great at getting on with the job in hand, nothing phases him especially if he's had his 2 'strong' morning coffees. He enjoys football and socialising.
Kim Williams
Warehouse operative
Kim joined the team when Cygnet was just a newly hatched fledgling and oversees all of our warehousing operations.
Kim lives with his wife, Janet, and they enjoy holidays in Norway and now currently enjoying retirement.
Claire pelling
customer services executive
Claire joined the team in September 2020. Claire looks after our key accounts.
Claire enjoys walking her Lhasa Apso (dog) and trips to London and America.
Dan johnson
warehouse manager
Dan joined the Cygnet team in April 2021, Dan oversees our warehouse and organises goods in /out.
Dan enjoys taking care / racing his pigeons. He lives with his wife and his two children. He loves taking them on holidays away.
